About us
We are Popeth, a team of dedicated therapists who are united in supporting children and families heal from trauma.
At our therapeutic home, we treasure every moment of progress, celebrating the resilience and strength within each family.
We understand healing is not a straight path, it’s a winding road with twists and turns, highs and lows. We embrace every step of this journey, knowing that each moment, no matter how challenging brings us closer to healing.
Children behaviours are not just actions; they are a language, which can be affected by trauma. Here we help caring adults, and the key adults in the child's life, decode and understand this language, fostering empathy and acceptance. Our hope is for families to coexist with this trauma language, gradually loosening its grip on their lives.
We believe we all do the best that we can and sometimes we need a little bit of help. Together, we navigate the complexities of healing, nurturing hope and resilience every step of the way. Welcome to our therapeutic home, where healing begins and families thrive.
Our Values
Heart
At the heart of Popeth is the child. Our children’s therapeutic needs are kept central to the process.
At the heart of the child is their village. The most important relationships to our children are their caring adults and other key adults in their lives.
Together we navigate the complexities of healing, nurturing hope and resilience. We believe relationships are at the heart of healing.
Child
At Popeth our practice is underpinned by evidence based and child development research. We are constantly evolving and are committed to continued learning ensuring we bring the most up-to-date thinking and practice to our families.
We understand and accept each child has their own story. We are committed to learning this story and how it has influenced their trauma language.
In our commitment to ensuring our therapeutic practitioners are providing the best service to each of our families, we take regular time to reflect on our practices and be accountable in the context of professional supervision.
We carefully consider all the information available to us, to ensure we have the right approach to meet the therapeutic needs of the child and their village.
Village
As the old proverb says, it takes a village to raise a child. We care for each child by also caring for their village.
All adults involved in the child’s life are part of their village, from parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, to teachers, support workers and professionals.
We are committed in our approach to supporting the child's village as best we can. This may look like a therapeutic space for immediate family members, family relationship building therapies, family network sessions for extended family, or additional resources and therapeutic consultations for professionals.
Nation
‘Wrth galon gwlad, calonnau ei phlant. Cenedl sy’n gwybod ac yn gofalu’
‘At the heart of a nation, the hearts of its children. A people that knows, and cares.’
We have a heart for children across Wales, many of whom we will never get to see. To help them means equipping the nation to share that care.
We are committed to working collaboratively with professionals in all settings. Through continuing professional development, training, resources, bringing professionals together, sharing knowledge and best practices, we strive to better serve our children and their families.
